What God Has Joined Together: The Lord's Definition of Marriage
What God Has Joined Togther is founded on the words of Jesus: "He which made them at the beginning made them male and female, and said, For this cause shall a man leave father and mother, and shall cleave to his wife: and they twain shall be one flesh" (from Matthew 19:4, 5).
When placed in the proper context of Scripture, these words form a marvelous conceptual definition of marriage with seven distinct elements. The authors name these seven concepts: the principles of personhood, paradise, equality, "help-meet companionship," leaving, cleaving, and sexuality.
Hopefully, loving couples desiring deeper passion, lover, contentment, and fulfullment will discover anew the joys of paradise restored through the wonderful grace of covenant-commentment, forgivness, and faith. At the same time, hopefully, counselors of engaged couples and marriage counselors of troubled relationships will find Bible-based guidance for couples and biblical hope and restoration for threatened homes.
Having been blessed with four sons and nine grandchildren, the authors have taught on marriage and family issues throughout their half-century of marriage and ministry together. With doctoral degrees in ministry and education from Fuller Theological Seminary and the University of Alabama, they continue ministering to families in a variety of venues.
